As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • 1. Mission and Approach for Guest Authors



    • It is expected to contribute with specialized and academic analyses in public health, based on scientific evidence.

    • The content must be nonpartisan, free from political or ideological influences. Avoid sensationalist elements, commercial promotions, or topics unrelated to public health.

    • Opinion columns allow for personal reflections, but they must be based on reliable data (e.g., peer-reviewed studies, WHO reports) and not on speculation, and these will be personal opinions.

    • Disclaimer : The opinions expressed do not represent the official position of the journal or the institutions affiliated with the author. The journal acts only as a platform for dissemination.


    2. Types of Contributions for Guest Authors



    • Primarily specialized research articles and analyses: Perspectives on public health issues, such as preventive strategies, program evaluations, or ethical debates.

    • Other possible contributions: Educational essays, systematic reviews, or journalistic reports on health, if they align with your expertise.

    • Commercial promotions, sensationalist content, or non-original manuscripts are not accepted.

    3. General Requirements for the Manuscript



    • Writing : Use a sober, scientific, and objective style. Use clear, precise, and accessible language, avoiding unnecessary jargon. Cite reliable sources following the Vancouver style.

    • Length : For main articles, 1,500-3,000 words; for typical opinions, 800-1,500 words.

    • Unbiased content : Do not include references to political parties, ideologies, or personal beliefs unless they are neutral and scientifically relevant.

    • Images and multimedia : Please attach a maximum of 3 high-definition images (minimum 300 DPI, JPG/PNG format). Include alternative descriptions (alt text) for accessibility. Images must be original or royalty-free (e.g., Creative Commons) and relevant to illustrating concepts.

    • Required elements :

      • 200-word summary.

      • Comma-separated keywords (5-7).

      • Brief biography of the author (200 words).

      • Declaration of originality and conflicts of interest (financial, professional or personal).

      • Include the authors' Vancouver and ORCID citation styles if available.



    • Copyright : You retain the rights, but grant the journal a non-exclusive license for digital publication. We use Creative Commons (CC BY-NC) to encourage open distribution.


    4. Specific to Opinion Articles (or Guest Columns)



    • They allow for personal perspectives on public health issues, but must be based on verifiable scientific evidence.

    • Document responsibilities: The magazine does not represent the opinions; these are the responsibility of the author.

    • Review: Articles are edited for clarity and consistency, but the main content remains your responsibility.

    • Avoid speculation; focus on facts and objective analysis.


    5. Submission and Review Process



    • Submission : Send your manuscript by email to editorial@lasaludpublica.com in Word and PDF format. Include all required elements.

    • Review process : All manuscripts are reviewed by at least one relevant associate editor for factual and scientific verification. We adhere to the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), rejecting plagiarism, falsification, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.

    • Response time : Confirmation of receipt within 48 hours; editorial decision within 2-4 weeks.

    • Rejection and revisions : Non-aligned manuscripts will be rejected. Minor or major revisions based on feedback are permitted.

    • Publication : Accepted articles are published digitally in an open format, with clear attribution to the author.

    • Article Withdrawal : In cases of serious errors or ethical violations, articles may be withdrawn with a public notice.


    6. Ethics and Conflict of Interest



    • Please disclose any conflicts of interest (financial, professional, or personal). Please disclose any sponsorships, if applicable. The journal does not accept outside influence.

    • Maintain confidentiality and avoid bias. Editors work collaboratively to disclose and avoid conflicts of interest.

    • Promote ethical use: Copyright, open licenses, and withdrawal only in justified cases.
